Join former Coastwalk ED Richard Nichol- author of Hiking the California Coastal Trail and former Board member Brenda Nichols for a walk along the Kortum Trail.
We start at Duncan’s Landing where the ocean swells churn at dramatic “Death Rock”. We then walk sandy Wrights Beach before ascending to the bluff trail to Shell Beach. We turn inland and climb on the Pomo trail to Red Hill for views north and south. This hike has lots of variety: beach, a cove, redwood forest. We will talk about environmental hero and Coastwalk co-founder Bill Kortum and the part he played in saving the Sonoma Coast, and stories about the saving of Red Hill and the charming redwood forest on its slopes.
Wear sturdy shoes, bring sunscreen, water and lunch and dress in layers.
